Busy World of Richard Scarry

[–] TehBamski@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Thank you for commenting. I couldn't for the life of me remember the title of the book or the author.

edit: TIL: There was an animated show of Busytown called The Busy World of Richard Scarry

This car is perfect for getting out of awkward conversations. Anytime you want to leave, just say, "I have to pea" and drive away.

[–] fogstormberry@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 months ago

this is now my goal in life

[–] cordlesslamp@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What if they says "me too, I'll come with you"?

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 4 points 4 months ago

well then you become 2 pees in a pod

You have no idea how much I wanted Lowly Worm's apple car when I was a kid.

I mean I still want Lowly Worm's apple car, but when I was a kid, I thought maybe I'd get it one day.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Thank you, although looking at those teeny wheels, I think I might have a dispute whoever is calling that car fast.

It's okay, me and lowly are fine with going slow. He's a worm and I'm lazy.

[–] oo1@lemmings.world 2 points 4 months ago

The speed wasn't all it was cracked up to be by the end. https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=kUXahDmsVdU&t=396

My grandma was amazing. She made me a lowly worm stuffy when I was a kid. It had the hat and everything. I loved it to death. I actually still have several of the stuffed animals she made for me as a kid, my kids get to enjoy them now.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

That's awesome! My grandmother did a lot of knitting and sewing, but nothing that creative. It's great that you have something like that to pass down to your kids!

Goat in the hoopty truck stealing a statue of another goat.

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I think driving that on American highways, one would end up in.....

..

..

.....peases

RIP (Rest In Pea).

When you fart inside a kei car

[–] LowlandSavage@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This is what happens when you fart in a smart car.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I heard farting is how AMC converted unsold Gremlins into Pacers

[–] roguetrick@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Embrace the car's unique peaness.

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Imagine getting into an accident in this thing, and while the wreckage is concentrated to the spot of the accident, your ass is found 2 miles up the road upsidedown, with your corpse look like it just went through the spin cycle.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Serious question: what is it? Is it a real production car, or a custom Isetta, or a photoshop, or what?

[–] Infernal_pizza@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago
[–] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I also think it looks like an Isetta

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Looks like, but it is not one.

I love tiny cars. If I could buy an EV Isetta, I would. Although my absolute dream car would be an EV Nash Metropolitan convertible.

Two tone red and white, just like that.

[–] Metacortechs@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Depending on where you live, you might be able to get something like an updated Isetta EV.

We would have one in a heartbeat if they ever come to the US.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I am also in the U.S. and I would also love to get one, but I couldn't afford a new car any time soon.

[–] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

That is delightful!

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Electric moped cars are probably the closest you can realistically get, i've seen a dude drive one of those in my neighbourhood and it looks delightfully like a car that hasn't reached maturity yet

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

They're all so slow. I want something that can reach highway speeds. I know it's a pipe dream.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

I would like to drive the pea car.

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This is what we need to end the arms race on the roads (we're following in the footsteps of the US here in Australia). We could all be peas in a pod.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 months ago

well now i want pea-pod shaped buses

[–] xenspidey@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago
[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

more family friendly than the Hulks testicle mobile.

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 1 points 4 months ago

Is there a chick pee car?

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Pea Car'd Memes would also be acceptable.

[–] BubbleMonkey 1 points 4 months ago

You absolutely must, if you own such a gem, refer to it as the peamobile. Both because it is gloriously whimsical, perfectly matching the aesthetic of the vehicle, and because it just sounds fun in that funny innuendo sort of way.
