Those ospreys are all going to crash into each other after the lead one hits the water. Shouldn't have all gone for the same fish. :(
From that angle it kinda looks like a reverse sky mermaid. Like the feet look like arms and the wings like the back fin, but like for air xD
Reverse Sky Mermaid was my band in high school.
Can't help but anthropomorphise, but in a changed way. I've always equated wings with what hands are in humans, but this picture makes me think of then more like legs, and bird's 'legs' as hand equivalent
Wow this is incredible. I love ospreys
Incredible to get the claws forward. Is it more the claws forward or the whole bird is rotated around and the head is crammed forward?
The way I’ve read ornithologists describe it, it’s that they hold their head steady to focus on prey, and then bring their feet in line with their head to line them up as accurately as possible with the prey. They usually try to wait as long as possible to move their feet up, so that they can maintain their more streamlined shape and reduce drag.
Picture didn't load at first and I thought this was about the navy osprey crashing again.
Based on the thumbnail, I thought it had been photoshopped with a human diver's head and arms.
Ospreys are so fucking cool! Those pictures are amazing. The intense focus, the smooth curve of the wings...
Birds of prey in general are just so beautiful. And badass. I love them!!!
The right panel triggered the Doom (2016) soundtrack in my head.
