I'd never heard of the narrow field pickups before. Sounds like they're in-between single coil and humbuckers.

No circle jerk posts, there are other places for that silliness, and they are wonderful. Not here.
It's their jargon for single sized humbuckers. There's nothing new about them.
i wonder how they compare to hofner shark fin pickups. i’m a huge fan of Jamie Hince and he uses those exclusively, but they haven’t been made for decades.

Yea, P90s being kidna humbucker-fied single coils and near field being single-coil-ified humbuckers ... ?
I don't know enough about the physics of these things to appreciate what these changes actually mean, sadly.
Are Fender Lace Sensor pickups narrow field? I have a Strat with those, they're nice.

I don't think so ... but it's always hard to discern the physics from the marketing!
Yea, when you go to the SE Guitars Page now it's basically a whole guitar company in its own right ... "strats", "les pauls", piezo hollowbody guitars, signature models and others (with the DGT and CE models looking pretty darn great).
I have an SE Custom 24-08 with stock pickups and it's great. I'd love to try out a US model.
