Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Only good Star Wars is canon.

That’s the high IQ Wojak’s reasoning

My head canon is that the moment Disney bought the franchise, we entered an alternate timeline. All Disney creations and decisions (like deciding certain existing items are no longer canon) are in the alternate timeline in my eyes!

Andor and Rogue One can stay.

Legends is cannon. Disney cannon is just expensive fanfiction

All star wars is bad

So much of Disney's stuff is just soulless cash grabs though.

As the title said: your focus determines your reality.

For example, Ep VIII is a really good 10 minutes short.

The Doom trilogy by Daffyd ab Hugh and Brad Linaweaver is Doom universe canon and is 1000% better than anything Bethesda came up with.

Knuckle Dragger: Everything Disney (or someone else) put into canon is good.

Middle: Disney defines canon and it's a mixed bag.

Sage: You decide what is canon and you just put into there what you like.
(e.g. the plans for the Death Star were stolen by the bearded wonder, no matter what Disney or some movie say)

Just keep your own head canon, fandom is very much like religion in that even amongst those in the same sect there are wildly differing interpretations of whatever weird esoteric shit. Just keep the shit you like, don’t worry about the shit you don’t, don’t be a dick, don’t try to force your interpretation on someone else, and call out anyone who does the previous two.

My personal and not-actually-relevant head canon is that the B-wing was basically a dragster- very fast, but turned for shit, so it could get inside a capital ship’s defenses and drop payload in a minimum amount of time.

(The other thing I do t get about it is why no hyperdrive ring allowing you to retain the composite beam pwnage from the Blade Wing. Maybe slap in some basic thrusters and a dumb droid pilot so it could be dropped and maneuvered while the b-wing did its smash-smash thing.)

I like the non canon stuff too.

When you have too many cooks in the kitchen, it's okay to hate some things on the menu. Unfortunately, the hired cooks are coming from the same awful school.

Ugh, no, Bounty Hunter Wars, Darksaber, Junior Jedi Knights and many more that suck ass in the true canon.

They hated Jesus because he spoke the truth

It took Michael Stackpole to write I, Jedi for me to understand what happened in some scenes in the Jedi Academy.
