Linus has become quite affable since his decision to change his tone. I very much like it.

Indeed. It's simple really. The way i do it, i just write stuff the way it comes to my head. Then I edit out all the ad hominem and swearing. Then I post it. Of course there's always some fucking moron who still doesn't get it ... Oops!

Maybe you could use an LLM to filter out all the murder threats and curses while also adding all the necessary punctuation.

Why is this throwing the hammer? Is this a particularly controversial change?

From my reading, it sounded like there was some controversy around whether it was ready to be merged it not. It sounded like some people felt that it wasn't ready, but Linus decided to overrule them and merge it, saying it was ready enough and that merging it would help them improve it more rapidly.

I think just a figure of speech that means that he decided and that decision stands. Like a judge announcing the verdict.
