Hamas cannot agree to any deal unless Israel makes a "clear" commitment to a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, a senior official from the Palestinian militant group said on Tuesday.

Qatar, which alongside the United States and Egypt has been mediating talks between Hamas and Israel, has also urged Israel to provide a clear position that has the backing of its entire government to reach a deal.

If Israel goes out of Gaza the whole war was meaningless for them, similar to Ukraine's demands for Russia to give back everything. I don't think they can do that, that would be political suicide at home for them.

I would think the bigger issue would be the permanent ceasefire.

I would think Israel doesn't trust Hamas not to break it, and it complicates the question of, "how do we respond if Hamas kills a bunch of people."

Does anyone trust Israel not to break it?

Israel is the party breaking almost every ceasefire.

Israel even violated the temporary ceasefire by shooting and killing civilians in Gaza at the start of it to impose arbitrary rules that were never agreed upon.

Out of Israel’s 191 violations, 10% resulted in death and 42% in injuries or detentions; while out of the 75 Palestinian violations, just 4% resulted in injuries and none in death.

then we can all agree then that rescuing kidnapped citizens was just a pretext and that the land grab was the goal all the time, right?

Israel promised a full retreat out of Gaza at the start of their Genocide.
