They changed editors in 2015, shortly after the intelligence services forced them to shred their hard drives in 2013. The quality seemed to decline after that, and the politics moved to the right, as shown by The Guardian being one of the leading voices in smearing Jeremy Corbyn right from day one of his leadership of the Labour Party.

...that makes sense. The intelligence services for the Anglosphere seem to lean pretty far right, anyway.
