I usually start those games with the familiar barbarian and then slowly explore. I try to not really look at optimal builds and focus on the skills I think are fun. The sense of discovery is pretty cool when i "discover" a sweet combination or tactic, even if it turns out it's been a known build, I still feel like I discovered it
I agree. I don't generally look up builds, either unless I have done all I want, am looking for some new way to make the game not repetitive.
I generally start these game with a mage though (sorceress in Diablo), but after playing for a while, get an itch to get close to the enemies and beat them up, so start another play-through with a barbarian.
Played the demo with Necromancer, and now I want to play with the sorceress, but that is for whenever I get the game.
