Rivian already announced new models that may be closer to that. In the meantime, think of this as differentiation: keeping their premium models relevant next to more mainstream models. I hope it works.

Also think of it similar to Tesla when they used to update technology more regularly, especially to “Plaid” versions of model S + X. I believe Cybertruck included higher voltage wiring and charging that could really benefit all models
