I think the best we can hope for is house arrest, which would still be really good since he couldn't campaign. I doubt he will go to prison even though it would be amazing and hilarious to see him in those paper thin orange prison jump suits. He could be roommates with Nicholas Tartaglione, but I can only get so optimistic
He won’t, he’ll just go to the pub and have a pint, and this will all blow over. Rich people don’t have to follow the laws in America, you see
Maximum sentence per conviction is 5k or 4 years in prison... he'll get a $170k fine then head down to the Winchester
wtf is that real? how on earth is 5k comparable to 4 years in prison?
Not McD’s?
The problem is that in the meantime, he got elected to the presidency, served his term, irrevocably damaged the US' international relations, incited an unsurrection, committed a bazillion other crimes, and looks poised to get to the presidency again. All the while we got through a Democratic term where they could build a fraction back up of what Trump destroyed while also fighting with their own failed politics (Biden is complicit in why student loans are a big problem now, and well there is the genocide thing).
I can understand the wheels of justice are slow and steady, but the fires of chaos are hot on its heels. I hope I'm wrong, but the US seems like it will elect a convicted felon to its highest office to both guide and represent it in this fucked up world we have right now.
Couldn't agree more, and I've been a constant critic of the legal infatuation with Trump for years now. But on the day of the verdict, I'll permit myself a little misguided celebratory hope, as a treat
Yeah I’d love to see his ass rot in prison but that’s not how America works.
The next step is likely an appeal, so as wonderful as the news was, we're far from done. Sadly.
