Following Google’s restructure as a subsidiary of Alphabet, “Don’t be evil” was removed as their motto in 2018.

Good: Less money now, maybe better long term reputation and more sustainable business.

Evil: More money now, better quarterly report this quarter. Who gives a fuck about the long term.

The choice was obvious from the start. Sigh...

Ironically it aligned pretty closely with changing their decision to not engage in this very behavior in China.
