I submitted a video to the dash cam owners Australia YouTube channel that was included in the latest compilation. Honestly more entertaining for my colourful commentary rather then the traffic violation.
Good work! love these kinds of reactions tbh. Aussie culture really comes out. Its HILARIOUS when a middle eastern bloke with a thick accent goes full aussie swearing too.
I feel that's a pretty high status getting a vid in one of those compilations!! Got a timestamp?
11:26 into the video 😳
Haha, yup, straight up dumb cunt
Way back in the day I got the shits with DCOA copying peoples videos, then taking the dollarydoos for appearances on the news etc. Many many years ago I started a competitor which always linked back to the original video and only ever embedded the YouTube / Vimeo / whatever clip so the original owner would get the revenue. Every request from news sites I forwarded to the original owner.
It actually took off and was doing really well for a while there, but then we moved house and I had basically no internet for 2'ish years. I couldnt keep up with the submissions because I could only do stuff when I was at work (and no one was looking)... and DCOA was just copying everything I uploaded anyway since I was linking to the original.
Anyway, seems most people care more about the thrill of seeing their video on the internet than the hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars of revenue they arent getting so I never bothered with it again even once we got internet back. I think YouTube made it harder for people to monetise their account too which didn't help. And lets face it, most people barely have the tech literacy to get an mp4 file off an SD card so even my beautiful instructional on "how to upload videos to YouTube" was never really followed. DCOA make it easy to submit and share so good on them I guess! They put the effort in to keep it going so enjoy the fruits.
Personally I made literally thousands in licensing fees from my old dashcam clips. Bought an RC car, new dashcams, and donated a grand or so to boob research at the request of a cyclist who got hit (they wanted nothing to do with news requests but told me to go ahead. I suggested I donate his half of the cash to a charity and he opted for breast cancer aus).
