Is this the original text? I remember pizzacake being funny..
You remember that wrong.
Careful, I remember somebody posting evidence some time back showing the author was some hyper passive aggressive person who'd sic their fanbase on you.
Lmao, let them do their worst.. 😂
I tried to find info on that but didn't see anything that supported this. Do you have a source or are you just repeating what you've heard?
https://www.reddit.com/r/JustUnsubbed/comments/12rv1y9/just_unsubbed_from_rpizzacakecomics_i_genuinely/
This is what a quick google turned up
NGL that seems incredibly mild and doesn't really support your original claim.
The guys that push this story always leave out the loads of overt harassment that she did receive too.
Referring more to the comments and discussion in that thread rather than the comic, in case that wasn't clear. In any case, I have no personal experience or fight in this.
So you're just repeating some random people online who are complaining about a woman...who pushes back against some online trolls/haters?
Lol who gives a shit and why would you just throw out such a random claim when you haven't seen it for yourself anyway? Redditors, famous for reacting respectfully to women and women content creators.
Was not even aware she was female until I looked this up, and did not bring up anything to do with gender, so you seem to be making this a sexist fight for no reason.
Remember, this was your claim.
I looked it up and couldn't see any evidence of it, and your only source was a collection of redditors complaining about the author pushing back against dude-bro style comments. I never said you brought up the author's sex, I said redditors complaining about a woman was not a good source.
If you're a content creator with a reach of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of views (r/comics has 2M+ subscribers, and these comics get posted there regularly), and you're using your actual comic to make fun of / belittle critics? Also taking in account her fanbase seems extremely vocal for some reason? Yes, I believe my claim has been justified. How do you NOT find the linked comic cringy AF?
I never said I liked the comics, and you didn't originally claim that they were cringy. I'm pushing back on your unfounded claim that the author harassed or incited her fan base to harass people who don't like the comics.
"Yeah the author does some fucked up things."
"Really?"
"No, but I don't like her comics."
Just say you don't like the comics and leave it at that, ya goofball.
No no, I actually do find some of her comics funny. Not all, but some.
I think the issue here is we see the linked comic differently. To me, that comic is the very method the author is harassing her critics, while you obviously see it differently. Matter of perspective, I suppose.
Lol
Him, interesting, thanks
Pizzacake drama is the internet's dumbest drama which makes it quality meta.
Ha,never.
It always strikes me as anomalous that there are some that feel compelled to comment that pizzacake isn't funny but don't bother expressing approval or disapproval of any other comics
Pearls before Swine is awesome. Same with Red and Rover. And of course the true classic of Far Side. And Bizarro is fun, especially the "seek and find".
Do you do that in the posts for those comics ?
No need. I just call out shit I don't like.
If you don't have something nice to say, post it on the internet?
It's a public forum. That's how things work. If it bothers the original artist then that person should either keep their stuff off the Internet or learn to ignore the negativity.
Then why did you reply with positive comments about unrelated comics?
You literally commented that people don't say positive things about other comics.
Ah you misunderstood. There are some people that comment positively in comics that they like and some that comment negatively in comics they don't like and some that do both. The thing that is weird to me is that, seemingly unique to this comic, there are people that feel they have to say that "it's not funny" just for pizzacake. This group is different from the group that comments negatively in comics in general. They don't leave comments, positive or negative, for any other comics.
Now if you make the habit of going into other comic posts that you don't care for and leave your criticism on those posts then you fall into the non-anomalous group that has consistent behavior. If you have any pattern of leaving commentary on the quality of comics then you don't fall into the group I'm talking about really. But if you only comment about comics on just pizzacake posts to just say they are not funny then the shoe might fit.
Did you express approval or disapproval for other comics in other posts?
It's about the comments and group discussion.
Vast majority of comic posts do not have any comments and I'm not going in for no reason.
No, I don't consider leaving a singular +/- comment a reason.
I just find it odd that some people are so compelled to comment or join in on the comments for just pizzacake comics.
I personally found this crap on Reddit and OP would make snide comments. Big turn off.
No, I have zero links as documentation. Just a memory of actually reading some dumb shit.
Yeah I found it there too. I think I was there for the start of all the drama. I didn't find the way she handled the the whole thing appealing either but I saw some of the initial harassment and the bans from the mods that followed. I think the bans were appropriate for the harassment. The thing I noticed that followed that was a bunch of sock puppet accounts that would show up and post the "not funny" comments. That was all they posted. Eventually people caught on to that and many of those got banned too but the pattern was carried on by others. I don't fault her for not reacting gently to people who's only contribution is to show up in her posts to tell her that she isn't funny. What's the point of an interaction like that? Also that it exactly echoed the sock puppet accounts always felt suspicious. It seemed to me that the normal reaction to a comic that doesn't appeal is to be disinterested and scroll on. That is what I see for most comics that just don't cut it, tumbleweeds in the comments. The compulsion to post about not liking it so consistently in her comics seems unique.
Well, as I mentioned, I don't even open comic posts unless I notice comments already listed. Then I'll add my $0.02. Since I don't typically like it, my comment will be in the negative.
The fun of the bandwagon.
