Oooh this meme is great in layers. Peanuts comics came out in 1948 and this refence is able to make the joke in a language they understand. The memes of their childhood. AND this is the bs they spout because it actually WAS true for a time, in their lifetimes. I know it is lame to explain a joke. Idk if younger people would know the extra content, since it is funny enough without it, and I just got all giddy nerdy about how clever it is!
All the American olds know Peanuts. And when Lucy offers to hold the ball for Charlie Brown there can be only one outcome: a bait and switch.
