As an American-Brit who has been living in Sweden for a couple of years, I've always found it interesting that pretty much everyone I know here can be found at their home address simply by googling their name and clicking on hitta.se. When I show this to my British or American friends, they're always shocked, and I find myself explaining that "Swedes have a very different, more trusting, relationship with their government than Brits or Americans."
Personally, I've never had a problem arise from this, and neither has anyone I know here, but I've been here less than for two years. I love it here and I can see myself living here for the rest of my life (that is, if you'll have me! Soon time to renew my visa!)
But I find myself wondering: Has anyone here, or anyone you know, ever had a problem arise from their address being listed publicly? Strange people turning up at your door, weird post or packages, or something worse?

jqvie43Their minds have melted for some reason, literally supporting privacy invasions and endangering people who needs to not be seen, or even just letting callcenters call anyone over the age of 85 with all of their personal details to build trust, and then scam them for money.

jqvjxvxHere are two examples that happens regularly:
My colleague is off work heads to a gym with his friend. They go to this fancier gym with a nice neighborhood because they were closeby. Unfortunately my colleague and his friend looks the part of the stereotypical criminal, softpants tattoos all that stuff. They encounter a group of people that are highely likely criminal affiliated, as they get very nervous when my friends enter the gym. It is likely that they go to places other rivals dont go to. They get eyed up a lot. Eventually they leave like 30 minutes earlier than my friends all together. When my colleague leaves he sees them waiting, one is out and rest in the car with engine running. They check my friends car registration when they enter the car and leave. The next day my friend gets a call from his friend he hasnt spoken to that he knows for a fact that is in this shady business, thus he distanced himself from this guy. But they been friends like childhood friends. They all live in the same area. This guy asks my friend what he wanted with these guys and headsup that they are affiliated. My friend says no shit but kinda finds it funny that they were nervous, because he knew the criminals were nervous cuz he thought they were gonna potentially get into a shootout. This is how these things happen when rival gangs shoot each other. Eitherway the misunderstanding got cleared out, but as you can see these guys figured out quickly where my friend lives because of the car regristration and asked around until his old friend knew who he was that lives closeby.
As for other examples i know a lot of civillians and security personell refuse or play dumb to become witnesses because everything about you comes forward and no one wants to be a martyr to testify against a criminal. This happens very often and regularly even damning evidences. However security personell are forced to testify but often they darken things to the police to not get into trouble.
This is the reality we live in.

This is where phone scammers get their info, this is were crazy Ex's get a hold of a persons adress, this is where fathers with restraining orders find out where their kids who changed their last names moved.
