For crying out loud just make a FairPhone for the North American networks already.
Seriously, I'm interested in one potentially as a Linux phone (I think the FP4 is supported) but I'm not about to fork money over to have a terrible experience.
I follow the project very casually. If I knew for sure that it would work properly on the SaskTel network, I'd follow it a lot closer.
They already have. You can buy it right now. It works on t-mobile’s network.
