MODERATORS

Hello everyone,

Opening that thread following the latest discussions on !moviesandtv@lemm.ee.

I am now suggesting to retake this community or create another one that would be more structured, especially

  • weekly "what have you been watching lately" thread
  • dedicated threads for shows and TV. Discoverability of those threads would be eased by having a research bar in the sidebar.

What do you people think? Should we use this community, or create another one? If the latter, what would be the name? /c/moviestvreviews? /c/moviestvdiscussions? Feel free to share your suggestions

Edit : aldready [sic.] getting downvoated [sic.] sweet.

I didn't downvote this comment but I can tell you that it's probably because your spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar are so atrocious that it's hard to figure out what you're even saying. The culture of Reddit-style message boards has long been to discourage low-effort content. It takes like 30 seconds to proofread your comment/post before pressing submit. Don't write like a 13 year-old girl on an AOL chatroom in 2003, and people may be less inclined to downvote you.

Thank you for pointing this out, at least it clarifies the issues

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No problem. My personal philosophy is not to downvote comments with a lot of errors unless they are so serious as to make it impossible to understand, but I would normally downvote a top-level post if it had that level of messiness going on.

Ok i fixed it the best i can with the time i have . If you need me to fix anything else i'll do so gladly .

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I don't "need" anything. I'm just explaining to you why people are likely downvoting you.

[–] THEDAEMON@lemmy.ml 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Oh man i did'nt say it like that at all. It's a problem on the internet that you can't understand people's tunes, moods etc. I just meant it like if you need me to fix anything that will make reading that for you or other people better just tell me and i'll do it . I hope that helps you better understand my intentions .

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Okay yeah, fair enough. On that note you may also be getting downvoted because of the "Let's do something to troll people (just kidding... (or am I?))" tone of your comment. It's hard to articulate why, but that sort of tone comes across as wasting the reader's time in a forum environment. Just say what you want to say and don't couch it in multiple layers of irony and sarcasm. People won't know what you are actually suggesting.

[–] THEDAEMON@lemmy.ml 0 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

It's a reference and yes people on lemmy , reddit and forums does that .

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I wasn't referring to that specific quote, but rather the overall tone of your comment. It seems like you genuinely want to see some vengeful/discordant action taken, which I think a lot of people would take issue with.

[–] THEDAEMON@lemmy.ml 0 points 9 months ago

Lol "vengeful/discordant" i was just kidding dude .

[–] Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 9 months ago

I agree. No need for any vengeful/discordant action. Let's build rather than harm.

Yeah one of the down sides of switching from gboard is no one will hold your hand anymore i guess. EDIT: fixed what i can in 30 seconds . Also why a 13 year old girl why can't it be a 13 year old boy ? Not trying to offend anyone just asking ?

[–] Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Which keyboard are you using?

[–] THEDAEMON@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Florisboard i am thinking about switching to the fossify one when they release it because even though the dev says he is going to continue development it looks abandoned so wouldn't recommend

Listen, you can't blame a keyboard for the fact that this comment has no punctuation, and is one giant run-on sentence. You have to add that yourself on every keyboard I've ever used.

[–] THEDAEMON@lemmy.ml -1 points 9 months ago

I was talking about the typos and auto capitalisation but ok man you do you .

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

13 year old girl because of my lingering trauma from reading the Penguin of Doom copypasta.

[–] Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Damn, that's something I hadn't seen in a long time

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago

I kinda didn't realize that was what I was even referring to when I said "13 year-old girl on an AOL chatroom" until after they asked me about it. Funny how our brains can have these hardwired associations to things we don't actively remember exist.
