The trick that I've used also works for OCD: Say it to yourself. "The door is locked."

Works pretty well.

Am I remembering yesterdays door locking or today?

[–] vithigar@lemmy.ca 8 points 9 months ago

Speaking it out loud is a great way to remember many things.

"Keys, wallet, phone" as you get ready.

"Door's locked" as you leave.

"Oven's off"

Etc

The door is locked.

...just you and me. can I take you to a restaurant that's got glass tables? you can watch yourself while you are eating.

[–] qaz@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I thought I was the only one doing this

[–] psud@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You are never the only person doing it thinking anything*. I mean, how unlikely would that be

*Anything common. Sure your thoughts on the technical subject that is your work or hobby are unique

You're never the only person doing anything common. What profound wisdom.

I also need to do this occasionally, even though I never leave without locking I still need to consciously remind myself of the fact
