You say you hate capitalism, and yet you use a capital I in your sentence. Lib(rary) moment!

we need to rise up against those capital(ist)s

Who doesn’t? Ah, right. Capitalists.

slight defence: forces many jobs to give people time off. If it didn't have that pressure can you imagine the glee of managers dictating how hard you had to work up to the last minute of Q4?

Y'all need to chill with this shit. Like yeah fuck the capitalist aspect of Christmas. Also fuck the Christian part of it. But you know how significant this time of year is for us humans?

This time of year is when the darkest night appears. For three days after the 21st during sunset the sun doesn't seem to dip any further. After the third day it begins to rise again heralding longer days. Our ancestors noticed this pattern and cultures from EVERYWHERE has some tradition about it. You know how amazing that is?

I am not superstitious. I don't believe in magic, fairy, astrological signs and whatever else. To me, this time of year is about warmth, caring for others, and partaking in part of human history and tradition. Do I get gifts? If I want to. My partners usually. But what I usually do is invite people over who are alone for the holidays. I don't want anyone alone during this time. This is part of this tradition.

And you know what's cool? Spice this shit up. Look up old pagan traditions of the solstice, from any and all cultures. Partake in them. Jazz it up. Or don't. In the end do what you want.

I can wallow in the capitalist hell hole we are in but that doesn't do anything but drain me emotionally and mentally. Instead I make something out of this time of year and give my own meaning.

You dig?

Same. Most stressful and generally annoying time of year by far.

Ehh I enjoy the lightshows people put up this time of year.
