Makes sense
The spam bot accounts are posting some terrible stuff, everywhere, incredibly fast
I'd hate to be a mod today with all the crap that they're posting
Surprises me that Lemmy doesn't have such moderation tools yet, considering how much longer it exist compared to kbin.
Just a simple throttle on the number of posts an account can make (especially a new one) would help.
that exists, just has a relatively high default
Well that's odd - if you are posting faster than once per minute (for example) then you are likely up to no good. Set much higher than that and it's a pointless feature.
Admins can deal with it on their own instances very easily with 1 button that purges all content but for it to federate everywhere the source of the account or where the comments are posted needs to deal with it
e.g. I can purge all of the comments locally from programming.dev using one button which will get the ones posted on programming.dev for other instances and posted on other instances for only p.d users and then ban them so they dont post anymore. But for all instances to have that done blahaj needs to do it. Anything other than that would mean moderation overreach with other instances where someone on a 1 person instance can ban people that shouldnt be banned and it federates
I'm an Admin at Feddit.uk and will temporarily defederate if this goes on.
@blahaj@lemmy.blahaj.zone @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone @supakaity@lemmy.blahaj.zone, not sure if you've already reached out to them, or what protocol is for these things
Hey im one of the programming.dev admins, when the accounts are dealt with on the blahaj side ill be refederating but this just prevents the users on p.d from seeing new spam accounts that may pop up for now since you guys dont have application requests to filter
Edit: refederated
Do what you need to do, man ๐
