You’re assuming you only need USB-C for things where it is uniquely suited, whereas im assuming we want to transition everything to the new standard, so we have one port, one connector, one wire

Its a worthy goal but I don't see it happening for decades as everything still uses USB-A and again there isn't a whole lot of downside to the current configuration as long as you have at least one or two USB-C for the tines when it's uniquely suited.
