Fuck man, they get you with their jingoistic rhetoric about protecting our freedom? Or was it the free college and then you got pulled into the war? I was too young, and thankfully by the time I was old enough the narrative had begun to shift and I could see it for what it really was.
I was 17 and needed to get away from abusive parents.
Recruiters prey on the disadvantaged.
That they most certainly do. I’m glad you made it back alive, hopefully mostly intact mentally and physically.
