I really wish I would have seen this before Midsomar, because this is basically the original blueprint. I can't believe how heavily that borrowed from this, even down to the psychedelics. I was fooled into praising its originality.

Would have been great to see this in the theater in '73 when it came out just to see the audience's reaction. A very twisting and winding road of a film that genuinely surprised me at the end when the mystery finally unfolds.

Three and a half out of five? How?

That is shocking. I watched this movie a few months ago now and was absolutely blown away. It might even get 5 out of five from me.

The actors are fantastic, the music and many of the songs are amazing and I actually still listened to some of them, the plot is unraveled so organically that you can't take your eyes away from finding out what happens next.

And there's tons of absolutely surreal, weird scenes that absolutely transfixed me, Even though some of them are only a few seconds long and you wonder if they even really happened.

I freaking love this movie. I guess I'm in the cult, thinking about the community you posted this in, haha.

You make a compelling case, I'll give it a rewatch.

Nice. I'll also throw in that the costumes are very detailed and aged, which made it seem like it was a real town with real traditions.

That goes for a lot of the chants that the school kids recite also, really well delivered and constructed.

My friend wasn't that into wicker man and then after they started telling me about it, I realize they were talking about the Nicolas Cage remake and was so upset that I basically only talked about the 1973 original until they finally watched it(and of course also loved it).
