These are for a small amount of cremains. My family has a few of these, to have a small amount of the deceased. The main urn is significantly larger and is with the widow.

Wait, so different family members can each have a small amount of a deceased loved one?

First time i hear if this. Is it like, really common?

[–] RedAggroBest@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

My mom and aunts split my grandmother's ashes evenly in 3 identical urns. We also used incredibly tiny amounts in urn jewelry (jewelry with a small chamber).

Exactly. I only first heard about keepsake urns when we were dealing with my father's cremains last year, so I don't think it is super common.

My 2 sisters and I each have one of these small urns of our grandmother's ashes. Our mother has the large urn. Doesn't necessarily make it common, just volunteering that I have one.

It's to prevent the dead rising again.

Great. Now I have Mambo No. 5 in my head.

🎵 A little bit of Monica, on my right
A little bit of Rita, by my side
A little bit of Jessica, here I am... 🎵

You get the idea.

Ugh.... Humans and our ideas for the dead... Like no offense to other people... They can do whatever... But I do not need that...
