The rough and loose technique uses an excavator to create 30 cm to 100 cm deep pits with similar height mounds to increase microsites and slowing and capturing water.

We till soil as a form of weed control and a priming effect (N release due to mineralization of the organic matter by microbes).

Rough and loose is for reclamation of disturbed lands an is used to create microsites that improve biodiversity, slow water moment, and reduce erosion
