This community is first and foremost a feminist community for men and masc people, but it is also a place to talk about men’s issues with a particular focus on intersectionality.

Rules

Everybody is welcome, but this is primarily a space for men and masc people

Non-masculine perspectives are incredibly important in making sure that the lived experiences of others are present in discussions on masculinity, but please remember that this is a space to discuss issues pertaining to men and masc individuals. Be kind, open-minded, and take care that you aren't talking over men expressing their own lived experiences.

Be productive

Be proactive in forming a productive discussion. Constructive criticism of our community is fine, but if you mainly criticize feminism or other people's efforts to solve gender issues, your post/comment will be removed.

Keep the following guidelines in mind when posting:

  • Build upon the OP
  • Discuss concepts rather than semantics
  • No low effort comments
  • No personal attacks

Assume good faith

Do not call other submitters' personal experiences into question.

No bigotry

Slurs, hate speech, and negative stereotyping towards marginalized groups will not be tolerated.

No brigading

Do not participate if you have been linked to this discussion from elsewhere. Similarly, links to elsewhere on the threadiverse must promote constructive discussion of men’s issues.

The gist of it: with each passing decade there's a growing shortage of construction laborers, resulting in large wait times for housing to be built. Some analysts wonder why the key demographic isn't showing up.

I've seen a few articles in the past few years about young men supposedly checking out of society and work, I wonder if there is a connection between that and this article here because young men tend to be the prime demographic for working this job.

Companies need to pay their workers better.

My solution to the construction labor shortage is to, get this, make construction jobs more appealing to construction workers. Your solution is to, checks notes, blame poor people.

Yup, housing prices would go up to reflect the actual cost of the house. The fact that you can't afford it anymore is a symptom of the fact that wages have been stagnant for decades, while CEOs give themselves bigger and bigger bonuses, at the cost of your quality of life.

Poor people being able to live their fucking life is not the problem, but rich assholes are sure trying to convince you it is.

It's hilarious that you think you actually have a "solution" there when all you just created is inflation. Skill free wages go up, construction wages go up, house prices go up. Just print more money.... what could go wrong with doing that?!
