Video Game Art

Video games are not mere time killers. They are albums of sound, aesthetics, animation and narrative.

This community is in appreciation of that. Screenshots, fanart, animations, gameplay clips. It is all welcome here.

The one common thread should be an eye for the aesthetic. This is not a place to discuss mechanics or stats, but to show off simply the artistic, expressed through the video game medium.

  1. All rules of the parent instance apply. That is, sopuli.xyz
  2. Include the name of the game your post is associated with in the post title.
  3. If your post is fanart, include a link to the artist in post body, if you can. You may also ping @saucechan@ani.social to have it attempt to find the source for you, and provide it in a comment.
  4. MARK ANY TEXT SPOILERS, as for art, do not post content that outright spoils key moments of a games narrative. Content that can only be understood with the context of having played the game, is ok.
  5. No generative AI art.

Dumb question but does the game look close to this?

Buckle up buddy. This is a screenshot.

I think their question is if this is gameplay or a cut scene?

[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 year ago

The answer remains unchanged, the cutscenes in CP2077 are first person, and in-engine.

Yes. Yes it does. At least on PC. Most likely all high settings with some ray tracing going on. No pre rendered cutscenes

It looks better, actually. Especially if you have a high end GPU that can handle path tracing.

Unfortunately the game itself isn't very good. They fixed all the bugs but it's just not that fun to play. I'd pick it up for $15, though, to have a pretty demo to show off your $1200+ graphics card, if nothing else.

Yeah from what I've seen some of the mechanics still look a little chunky.

I'm also a little worried about Keanu Reeves role in the game. Reddit's idolization of him really makes me cringe and I'm worried it's going to come off as intrusive as a Simpsons celebrity cameo.

So not on the Steam Deck?

Yeah no I wouldn't play it on the Steam Deck, unless you simply like the game for what it is (and a lot of people do). Personally I only play it for the graphics because I'm lucky enough to have a PC that can crank all the settings at 4K without my FPS tanking, but just for a few minutes at a time before I get bored again.

Keanu actually does a pretty good job. He's a major character so it's not just a quick cameo or anything like that just for the sake of having a celebrity in the game. It's actually not jarring at all. He blends in just like any other character in the game.

Thanks. Part of partially expected him to give Easter egg references to projects he has previously been in

As far as I'm aware, he doesn't make any nods to past works.
