Scientific papers are too complicated generally with their vocab and I've trawled through lots of like social media posts and wedmd/live strong type posts.

"The Eight" by Katherine Neville. It's a great thriller, specially if you like chess.

Otherwise, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, a timeless classic!
