Art already went through something similar as well when photography was invented. Impressionism was largely born as a response to photography being able to quickly capture realistic images. I think we'll likely see art going in new directions with AI as well. I also agree with the idea that AI generation can be viewed as a new medium. There is still a process of selection and curation done by the artist who has the vision of what the end result should be. The AI simply automates the mechanical skill of being able to express the idea.
