The fact that our current political climate completely ignores our impending extinction constantly kinda terrifies me. Our current debates are now just moral panics on queer folk which will not just worsen things for them (or rather us, since I'm trans), but will bring nothing to the table and, oh yeah, won't solve our actual issues. It's as if the people starting these distractions don't care about anyone but themselves...
To be fair, it's probably not extinction. There isn't enough fossil carbon to do that. It's more like a huge hit to the capacity of the planet to be civilization-supporting.
