I was flabbergasted that they find Christine, but to hell with anyone else on the saucer section who might have survived — fly it into the tower! Chapel’s all, “I got more oxygen for everyone” but I guess Spock is still “needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” and all that.

Umm, no. They decided and agreed there was no life, Spock agreed and even said he'll grieve after he sends it with rockets. And considering the saucer was already moving when he found that Christine was alive right before the gorn smacked him with his tail. Also the fact there was 0 communications until they destroyed the disruptor on the surface, not sure what you'd have him or the enterprise do when they can't communicate.
