Nah dude, when I'm in that position I take it as my duty to be an advocate for metal.
There's so many genres of metal that I can almost always find something they like. Maybe they won't like Fear Factory, but maybe they'll like Nightwish or Amaranth or Alestorm. We can find out together!
It’s very intellectual. I like the bit where they go RAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Maybe you'll like powermetal? I like uplifting music about fuckin dragons.
Or maybe symphonic? There's some amazing harpsichord riffs out there.
Or maybe something you can dance to? It's not all head bangers!
I’d imagine all music about fucking dragons is very uplifting
Petrodragonic Apocalypse by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is a kickass album. Both about climate change and just dragons and witches and shit.
Full title is PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. Love it.
Seconding this, also Infest the Rats Nest is fun as well.
Donkey?
Oh man, you gotta try the electric dragon stuff
Manowar - Ride the Dragon
Haha hell yeah!
These are my favorite genres lol. They're like all I listen to. Been obsessed over Brothers of Metal lately
Ziltoid the Omniscient is the most intellectual metal album ever made.
Sir Devin Townsend transcends genre
I've found that lots of non-metal people enjoy Wind Rose's Diggy Diggy Hole. There's even a dance remix...
I like pretty much all genres, although I can't tell what they are. I don't know to tell genres. Which is why my playlists are named the way they are.
Can't leave us hanging like that bro. What are your playlists called?
Yeah,..
This is the way
I'd love to hear obsolete in the wild!
Hell yeah - I'm really digging the Re-Industrialized album atm
I kinda don't love the Burt/Dino albums (Mechanize aside)... Christian and Raymond evened out the music. That being said Archetype had 5 great songs and just petered off and Misery Threat is painful.
I'd love to hear all four actually collaborate again but that ship sailed. Now FF is just Divine Heresy.
We Don't speak of transgressions.
Alestorm is just... Not my cup of tea haha. It feels a a little too jokey for me. I'd never yuck your yum though \m/
It's definitely not meant to be taken seriously lol
This is it for me, metal has something for everyone, just need to fuck around, in order to find out.
Personally I don’t like the throaty metal screaming, I prefer instrumental metal. When I say that I mostly mean the doom soundtrack
There is so much more to metal than just screaming! I mean, screaming happens but it's not always the focus.
Check out (apologies for yt links) Amaranthe, Blind Guardian, Ayreon, Stratovarius, Graveshadow, gosh there's so many melodic groups with clean vocals.
You. I like you. I want to add one. Unleash The Archers
Hell yea 🤟 was totally gonna add them too by the list was getting too long lol
-and Beast in Black, Nightwish, Seven Kingdoms, Avantasia...
