I'm surprised they let go of Mekies so soon, he was supposed to join AlphaTauri only at the end of the year, right?
Ferrari is probably entering a change phase, and some changes are too crucial to be shared with parting staff.
He's probably not allowed to take part in any technical meetings anymore. Missing out on those severly handicap your ability to do your job as racing director . Better to just cut your loss at that point
This is called “gardening leave” right? They basically demoted and simultaneously fired him, without firing him due to legal restrictions.
I think you're right and the F1TV crew agrees with you (I watched the Weekend Warmup right after my comment and they mentioned Mekies's early departure)
