Around this time is when things started going downhill. The new UI got introduced. r/all got censored and cleaned up. Push towards official mobile apps. Third party experiences got limited. Aggressive focus towards monetisation.
Indeed, hindsight is 20/20.
That's almost inconceivable that it was open source nowadays.
