There's another possibility: they didn't stay home, but there's just more of the other guys.
Or in places that took massive measures to prevent or decrease youth voting
Can you be more specific? I didn't hear anything about this.
Removed or made it harder to vote on/near campuses is a big one. Along with lowering number of places to vote.
Plus some states moving away from early voting or mail in ballots.

Trump is projected to win the popular vote too, the first time a Republican presidential candidate has since 2004. There are more of the other guys showing up at least.
Nah, Trump turnout was lower then last time, but Dem turnout was even lower
