I am not going to be sober if it turns out we have to deal with Trump (or notorious couch-fucker JD Vance) for another 4 years

Honestly that's how a lot of people in the US feel about it too

It's gotta hit harder if you're directly affected by the outcome.

During the Trump administration, every morning I’d wake up with vague existential dread, picking up my phone thinking “what now?” And every morning there would be some new shameful low. It was awful.

Seriously same. And that's not exaggeration either. It really was EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. was some new stupid bullshit, or the dumbest thing you've ever heard, or him announcing something horrible.

And here we are about to maybe elect a man with the IQ of a spoon again. But now with felony convictions.

Oh I'm absolutely sure it does, and thank the fucking gods I'll probably only be indirectly affected

The whole planet, the whole human race is directly affected

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's not what "direct" means. Abortion isn't going to be outlawed in my country because Trump becomes president, unless he goes to war with us and wins.

Lol, like their drug prohibitionism never spilled over to other countries?

Like it or not they influence policy everywhere. Plus if they opt out of environmental policies (even more than they already do), they absolutely have the power to fuck up the Planet for everybody else.

I won't even touch military matters as they should be self-obvious.

How much more direct can it be? Trump moving in with you?

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

unless he goes to war with us and wins.

I can only imagine; this wouldn't be a one bottle of rum situation if I lived there.

Y'all have my empathy, this shit can't be easy.

I would try to convince my blue state to split from America..

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] hydroptic@sopuli.xyz 9 points 1 week ago

Rum can help you with that.
