Record numbers of people in British Columbia are being vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu as the province ramps up its immunization campaign for respiratory illness season.

The health ministry said in a news release that B.C. pharmacies administered almost 82,000 vaccinations on Oct. 15 alone.

It says that was a record for a single day, with about 50,000 shots for flu and about 32,000 for COVID-19 dispensed.

. . .

The first week of the campaign also set a record, with almost 370,000 vaccines administered.

Nice to hear people are getting vaccinated.

My family of four will be booking shots in the first week of November, most likely. Good timing to get maximum immunity before the holidays, and efficacy shouldn't wane until past the winter peak.

Everybody in my family will most likely be fine catching the flu or COVID, but we all have immune compromised people in our immediate circle, including our child's (amazing) teacher who's getting cancer surgery and treatments soon. Getting vaccines won't likely save our lives, but it could save hers.

Make a plan to get vaccinated. Vaccines save lives.

I got both vaccines as soon as they became available👍

Some of my friends unfortunately caught covid a couple years ago from kids and they're still suffering from longcovid :/

Since then I try to inform everyone I know to get both vaccines as soon as they can🌻
