A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules may be more established as time goes on, but it's important to have a foundation to work on.

1. Follow the rules of Lemmy.world - These rules are the same as Mastodon.world's rules, which can be found here.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

No need for resolutions—this is all about the thrill of the debate. Whether you’re here to blow off steam or sharpen your rhetorical skills, dive in and let’s argue!"

Hi there! I recently created !sonicthehedgehog@lemmy.world, !metroid@lemmy.world, and !slycooper@lemmy.world for their respective series. All three of these are series I really enjoy, and it seemed like there wasn't much in the way of active communities for them.

  • Sly I could find nothing for.
  • Sonic has an SDF, .ml, and pawb.social community, but these are dead, and their moderators have not posted anything anywhere in nearly a year or more.
  • Metroid has one nearly dead community on lemm.ee which I would have posted to instead, except both of its moderators seem to be long-gone as well.

These all have the same (I think pretty lax) sets of rules, and I intend to share the rules across any retro gaming subreddits I may create going forward. I'm not looking for moderators right now only because these are starting out so small, but I'd be stoked to have you come check any of them out and contribute!

Rules are still evolving, but right now I'm just aiming for a community for civil discourse ...if such a thing is possible in politics. !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world

!bistitchual@piefed.social
Bistitchual

c/bistitchual is a hobbyist textile community based on the popular subreddit of the same name. All needlecrafts are welcome, but it has a particular focus on:
- Utilizing multiple techniques in the same project (i.e. knitted sweater with tatted trim).
- Techniques too obscure to sustain their own dedicated community (i.e. nalbinding).

!tokyodisney@lemmy.world

c/tokyodisney is all about the unique theme parks in Japan, but it’s also about Disney in Japan in general.

Anything from discussion about Disney’s cultural impact on Japan (and visa versa) to videos and photos and whatever else. Ask questions about vacationing at the resort or talk about the weird history of Disney breaking into the Japanese market.

I created this community because I missed the Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea subreddits, so I thought why not bundle them together and expand the scope to include all of Disney as it relates to Japan and Japanese culture?

I hope to see others contribute, or at least pay a visit.

Trying something new to try to give more visibility to communities (sometimes when the thread reaches a high number of comments some of them get buried)

I'll try a few other similar threads, maybe every other day

  • Movies/TV
  • Hobbies
  • Animals
  • Casual
  • Knowledge
  • Art
  • Memes/humor
  • Mental Health
  • Music
  • Video Games

Suggested subtopics for entertainments

  • Movies
  • Shows
  • Video games
  • Music

As always, please post only communities with at least one post since last week

!otomegames@ani.social

/c/otomegames@ani.social

I really thought kbin.run was going to be up forever, as its admin was an Mbin maintainer and the instance had been around for over a year, but they vanished and took otomegames@kbin.run down with it, so here I am on ani.social, which has also been around for over a year, starting over for the second time due to instances dying on me (linked thread for the first time I started over: that time was due to kbin.social going down and taking otomegames@kbin.social down with it). Once it gets some subscribers I'll ask what instance they'd like a backup community on to prevent this from happening yet again.

The general idea of otome games is a romance game aimed at women who want to romance men.
