Welcome everyone!

I created this place for people who really enjoy their boards!

Post videos of your favorite longboarding paths, share pictures of your boards, or ask questions about gear.

Skteboarders and e-boarders are of course also welcome here!

Anybody used a board with brakes installed? Was looking at it for hilly commutes but a lot of them either seem sketchy or won't let you use your own wheels.

I want to get a longboard for cruising that's basically just a giant skateboard so I can transfer my existing skateboarding skills to a longboard.

Something with big wheels that would make a decent commuter would be ideal.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Edit: Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go with the Arbor Shakedown. Going to keep this up in case others have suggestions for people in the future (or maybe I'll need a backup board lol)

Update: Aw shit, I went with the Arbor Shakedown but it's basically a normal sized board. That said, I'm still probably going to keep it because it seems like a pretty nice cruiser. Guess I'll have to pick up a long board some other time.

Feel free to make more suggestions, I'm still in the market lol

Used the nice weather to get to the pump track for the first time this year. Finally got the 3 ramps down to do consecutively. Not much of real jump yet though

I'm currently learning to kick mongo. It's like writing left handed while upside down.

There are a few techniques and some good videos, although as always it all comes down to practice until your body obeys.

Thanks for setting up longboarding on Lemmy! I thought it would be nice to make a thread about LDP (long distance pushing/pumping) and I thought I’d post a few links for anyone interested in the idea of travelling long distances on their board.

Please feel free to add more links in the replies, it’s quite a niche type of skating so there’s not loads of content out there, but once you start looking there’s some good stuff!

I know this isn't much, but I just discovered this community and wanted to post a thing

This one is 31x9 in. Pressed with 7 layers maple, and biaxial fiberglass on the bottom. I paired it with indy stage 11's and orangatang kegels. A couple days ago I replaced the bushing with riptide fat cone, street cone combos.

Still trying to learn lemmy. Here's a new deck I finished yesterday. It's 36x9in, vlam ash core with maple stringers, sandwiched between 2 layers of triaxial fiberglass, and 1/16 maple veneer. Hand dyed tobacco burst, and clear coated in epoxy resin.

I thought I could make a 90° left turn, took it too wide and clipped my wheel on the curb. I ate it hard. Face and shoulder hit asphalt. Wrecked a 25 year old Hawaiian shirt. Also wrecked my arms. Pretty sure nothing broke, but my tendons are sore as hell. I can't lift my arms. Thus endeth my downhill ambitions. Cruising only from now on. I'm 45 and I can't take a fall like that.

I mostly use the alternative one, it just has such a nice feel to it.
