I had to take three courses of history and it seems like we never talked about the rest of the world at the time. Was Vietnam and Civil Unrest really that big in America where we thought that is what was all going on and forgot about the rest of the world?

I was thinking about Rome and there is one place that’s a 17th century church, on top of 14th century monastery on top of a 1st century apartment. And if you go to the Forum section it’s visibly below the surface of the current city.

For the fact that the city has been active for thousands of years, how do things end up getting buried? Does that mean the elevation of the city is higher now than it was in 0 AD?

The famous Italian artist Caravaggio was a criminal who was constantly getting in to street fights in 16th century Rome. He even murdered a man in a dispute over a tennis match. Was this kind of street justice the norm in Rome at the time with arguments between men being settled by a sword fights?
