Yes, i raised a discussion on this and we're investigating these accounts. It seems they are bots that are not marked, and yes they are breaking Rule 7, but we've been pretty lenient in the past. Join the discussion here https://lemmynsfw.com/post/3850764
Well, currently the rule is "no pestering for off-site contact" so yes - DM requests should be ok as long as it's above-board.
This is a concern of mine, there are a lot of high-voted posts here that contains these "banned" links that I'd be removing if I listened to every content report. I also don't want the content quality to drop to the point that we're primarily re-posting OF advertisements.
Yeah that's what I don't want to happen here, there have been a LOT of reports lately from a few users mentioning Rule 7 being broken for this sub.
I've largely ignored them, because I know we're been quite lenient about that rule in the past.
The rule does say that they shouldn't be allowed at all, so that's the reasoning, but I don't want to suddenly remove a ton of content that is otherwise well-accepted. π
There is something to say for you being active here though :) - there are other OF users who don't engage or comment on Lemmy, which becomes a problem when these "bot users" posts their OF adverts across multiple communities at the same time, and doesn't do anything else (comment, etc).
No - they should be allowed in post description/body
Yes - We should ban these
You definitely donβt overpost or anything if thatβs what youβre worried about.
Yeah, you're all good. I don't mind seeing a couple of yesbum posts first thing in the morning :)
Please ensure you use appropriate tags in your posts. Thanks.
There are over 1,000 instances and almost 30k communities at the moment (across all instances). https://lemmyverse.net
