There's a chance it's a landslide and no legitimate argument for a recount. That won't stop the lawsuits, but it will make every reasonable person sleep better at night.

Those things are all deliberately awful because it's more profitable that way.

I just want to know he's not going to be president again. We can't know that for sure until Tuesday evening at the earliest. I'll never forgive Republicans for putting us through this.

You're correct about the federal charges. There's also the possibility that he pre-emptively and secretly pardoned himself for all future crimes while President. There's a legal argument to be made that he cannot do that, but it's never been tested before, and I would not expect the SCOTUS to side with justice in that case. It's maddening that they haven't prosecuted him for his many many crimes already.

Sorry, but which conservative are you talking about? Because this list does not narrow it down in the slightest

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 26 points 19 hours ago (4 children)

Mmmm no. Donald Trump is the inevitable result of malignant conservative "ideology." He hasn't split the country in two, he's exploited the pathological narcissism that humans use to justify selfish and self-destructive governance.

Most of this is stuff you should have on hand anyway. I'd draw the line at keeping your own stash of Paxlovid, and the anti-viral nasal sprays are a waste of time and money.

I'd say the one thing on the list that people should have and most people don't already have is the pulse oximeter. A lot of people died because they didn't realize how badly they needed treatment until it was too late. Once your lungs can't take in enough O2, you need immediate medical help.

He can't actually pardon himself, because he was conviced by New York.

It would warm my heart to see Cruz sent home.

Wait, that's a real company? I only ever see adds for it on sketchy websites, so I assumed it was a scam of some sort.

If you read the article, you'll see that Democrats are afraid to engage with bigots, because bigots are often violent. For many people, their very existence is reason enough for a Republican to attack or kill them. If my rhetoric offends you, I don't believe that you're not one of the bigots.

“Tonight, Missouri lynched another innocent Black man,” NAACP President Derrick Johnson said in a statement.

That man shook my hand, looked me straight in the eye, and said with a smile, "It's really nice to meet you." I am, in fact, incredibly unpleasant. WHAT ELSE IS HE LYING ABOUT?!

I heard someone say this in a video recipe, followed by way more cheese than you should eat at once. It occurred to me that the phrase means ample, not nutritious.

Has this ever happened to you? There's a fly in the house, buzzing around you, so you go to the cabinet to get the swatter. But as soon as you start wielding it, the little bastard disappears. You set it down, and now he's back, taunting you.

Ok so obviously flies don't taunt, but do they have the capacity to recognize, even instinctually, that I'm holding a deadly weapon?
