Since there's no new posts right now, I'll start with a review of two vendors I recently interacted with.

First off, I'm basically throwing out all my holsters and going full on with Remora Holsters for my EDC. My situation is that I conceal carry one of two Sigs, a P220 Compact and a P238, depending on what I'm wearing and the situation. I've gone with Remora for my pocket holster and IWB for the P238 for about three years now, and was overall very happy with it. I had some work done on my P220, and I'll be able to carry that again.

I just got a Remora OWB for it, and was going to get an IWB for it. My current holster is an Uncle Mike's (yes, I know). It does the job fine, but the key thing I like is the retention strap as an added safety measure for securing the gun and for the hammer. The Remora IWB, though, doesn't have that, so I cancelled the order. A lot of research on what others said that this isn't an issue and Remoras hold great without it, but I still didn't feel too comfortable with doing IWB on this one.

(I know, I do IWB with the P238, but that's a much, much smaller and thinner gun than the P220. It's much easier to control and conceal. I feel fine doing IWB strong side with it without a retention strap)

I let the owner know that I love his holsters, but I couldn't pull the trigger so to speak on the IWB without a strap option. He said he'd be able to add one no charge! Both should be here in a couple of weeks.

Second, I had Arizona Response Systems refinish my P220 with their Metacol system. I carried that for years in the Texas heat, so it's gotten pretty beat up. Metacol is not quite like parkerizing. The details are on their page, but it's not a paint. It's a "solid-film lubricant." It took a while longer than what was expected, partly because the particular P220 is a limited run Sig did about 8 years ago (Compact SAO), so some of it presented new problems for them.

Holy crap, was it worth it. It's beautiful. It looks like a brand new gun right now. More impressively, the finish delivers on its claim that it's a lubricant. The cycling is so much smoother. It feels softer and is quieter. Oh my God, it's incredible.

If you research ARS, you'll find that the owner has a "reputation", but people say he does fantastic work. I can vouch for the later. Can't say much about the former, but I basically decided going into this that I wasn't going to poke the bear and just let him do his work.

So, yes. First post here on c/guns post here on Lemmy - A+ for ARS and Remora for their work.
