Hi - Created a community here. wondering how I can change it's Icon, or is that only something the admin's can do?

Basically I made a community on lemmy.fmhy.ml and then searched for it on a different instance and it wasn’t coming up, and apparently you have to search !community@instance and subscribe and only then will the community be searchable/accessible from the other instance.

Hello 👋 I made a community called loveisland on this instance but I can’t access it from the other instance I’m registered on (namely lemmynsfw.com but also feddit.uk)

I made the community a few days ago and have searched for it multiple times from those servers but it never shows in the search results.

Anyone know what’s going on?

The fediverse is ready, if you build it they will come!

I think there needs to be a sensible way to crowdfund the server costs, but I can’t see any other reason why it shouldn’t succeed
