Never underestimate the ability of extremist communities to eat themselves.

I registered this community as a Lemmy backup for Reddit communities like /r/qult_headquarters and /r/qanoncasualties as well as /r/againsthatesubreddits. Recently I stumbled upon a thread that indicated that the original Lemmy developers were denying the Uighur genocide, which to me is just as dangerous as all of the right wing propaganda. I'd like to include antivaxxers and some of the tankier elements here as they all stem from an authoritarian mindset, but I'm not sure if this is appropriate. I do know that the vast amount of online conspiracies are right-wing in nature, but felt like putting in some leftist stuff too.

I mean, don't get me wrong I would love to be vindictively rude to these guys as a sort of catharsis. But, I always wonder what good it actually does. They have a worldview in which they are the main characters and everyone is against them and their in-group. They want you to be an asshole to them because it strengthens their victimhood complexes.

Eh, I have no idea either. It was weird even figuring out how to add mods in the first place (I think it needs a FAQ). I think it's just one of those things that you figure it out as you go.

I feel like this is exhibit #1 for a lot of people who are interested in this trend. It certainly happened to me with my dad. I am thinking that we can get like a curated list of sources like this if the community gets big enough.

Let me know if you want to mod!

A "back the blue" kind of thing? The internet says autism awareness but that doesn't seem likely.

I updated the rules with #4.

I made you a moderator because it was the obvious thing to do, I actually really enjoyed /r/qanoncasualties, this is the type of content I want to see. I can update the sidebar appropriately.

I went ahead and put up https://lemmy.world/c/watchtheright - If you want to mod, let me know!

I went ahead and registered https://lemmy.world/c/watchtheright - the only issue I have is that putting fascism in the name might turn off people who are just looking for information.

The only issue is all of these things change over time. Rightwatch? Watchtheright?
