What a Chad move.

We used to always have a fist full of customers. We are a very small agency and having 2 big and 3 smaller projects going, met the sweet spot of productivity and money made.

This was the first year, we're mainly on one big project. Finishing one, while simultaneously starting the one i wrote about.

You can concentrate more, while on just one protect. Ok, but the urgency of this project having to succeed, is also ever present.

I think this stresses me more.

The customer seems to be one that has high demands, but listens and ends up going with the recommended solution, when he got something wrong and doesn't insist on x being y.

I actually tried one time, but after trying to r even read 2 lines i quickly gave up.

I was in bed for three days after developing a fever. I wrote the fever code in JavaScript, no less.

Where's the news article about my ordeal?

He's come to collect my karma, I'm done! I'm no match for such a personality.

We just got a project headed over, because their customer wasn't satisfied, which already is a bad sign.

The problematic parts of the project involve exclusively their bespoke code that graphQLs some live routes data for a specific transportation type. They made a filter for the frontend, for customers to be able to quickly narrow the routes relevant to them.

They did promise a Documentation and a GitHub transfer to our Account ( including their GitHub Actions for CI/CD ), not only promised, but it's all written down in a handover contract. They sent some zip beforehand, stating "Here y'all can check the project out, before the handover".

Today, we got the info that the files we got earlier, were the "handover" and we couldn't get a nice GitHub transfer, because they weren't allowed to disclose proprietary information.

Attached was the "Documentation" of 46 Pages. It consists of the complete copies of the config files ( 31 pages / for example, the content of packages.json or .env ) and lists like: Plugins installed, npm modules used and printed out directory structure.

Nothing we didn't already know by just looking at the project ffs.

I won't even go into the part about their custom code. It's only half a page. The most important information for us.

We can't afford to say no to this project, fuck.

They could have at least waited until after Christmas, to send us this Photon Torpedo, so we could all have some nice days and only enter the Negative Zone on Friday, after the fucking holidays.

We also had plenty of "ah, i forgot a small detail" customers, but this today made me want to punch fellow developers for the first time. How dare they pull this trick on us?

He killed a guy.

The spectacle they make around him, is just ridiculous, but not stupid. This way, the general public will just see this and just like that, it will be ok to execute him.

Meanwhile, I'm spotting articles ( i really don't remember where ) where the CEO is presented in a way, like the world lost some kind of hero.

Always the same shit.

Big corps, billionaires and their like at preparing to exploit us even more.

They do believe in climate change, they ain't stupid. That's why we're about to get squeezed until the system breaks down.

We're going to be left with a broken earth & no functioning government.

I can imagine that most area on this earth, which will be the last to succumb to climate change, is already paid for by billionaires.

They will gather there and we'll be left without any means, to even get near them.

We still have time and have to act, everyone at once and bring this fucking farse to and end.

We can't let Luigi die in vain!

Fuck no!

I hope billionaires really don't keep themselves informed enough, in order to get started searching for climate refugia on OUR earth...

... Ending up possessing the maybe last spots of life on this planet.

That's the spirit! Let this become a trend. Let Musk become what he fears the most: a genuine laughing stock.

This time it's not an onion. I love how close this is to the Onion's "Elon Musk's AI turns on him" story from a few days back

There's a flying squid? (www.discoverwildlife.com)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by kamenlady@lemmy.world to c/til@lemmy.world

I knew there's a flying squid that likes to post memes though

If a squid swimming near the surface is spooked by a predator or a boat, it streamlines into a torpedo shape and fires itself out of the water. At the same time, it splays its eight tentacles into a flat, fan-like pattern in front of its face – some breeds even exude mucus to fill in the spaces, creating a unified, kite-like surface. It also flares a pair of fins near its rear end and – voilà – the squid becomes a living, breathing jet.

Their joy suggests how anticipating fun can enrich human life

Key findings

Day vs. night habitat use: Barred owls' home ranges were significantly larger at night than during the day, indicating different habitat needs between their active and resting periods. The research emphasizes that preserving green spaces in urban areas can have profound effects on nocturnal and diurnal wildlife.

Energy efficiency in preferred habitats: Owls expended less energy in their preferred nocturnal habitats, suggesting that these areas provide higher-quality resources.

Affluent neighborhoods attract barred owls: Barred owls in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, showed a marked preference for habitats in affluent neighborhoods, supporting the "luxury effect"—the tendency for wealthier areas to harbor greater biodiversity.

Implications for Urban Design: The study advocates for providing and protecting habitat for barred owls to keep this important species, other forest-associated species, and the ecosystem services they provide present and functioning in urban areas. The study also advocates for the equitable distribution of green spaces in cities, especially in less affluent areas, to promote biodiversity throughout the urban landscape.

Cryptic Lemmy (crypticrock.com)

I really don't know the idea behind this community ( sidebar is empty ) - but i would say you can't get more Cryptic Lemmy than this.

The existence of truly uncompromising men has never been, and will likely never be, commonplace. This world just is not fit to sustain high levels of conviction in people. With celebrities and Rock stars, it is even more unlikely. Between the fickle push of fans and the heartless pull of media and record label execs, individuals who once knew exactly who they were can, and often do, get lost in the shuffle. Perhaps they find themselves unable to live up to their perceived personas. They get engulfed amid the steamy haze of their own successes, drowning beneath the waves of drink, drugs, sex, and excess, while the incoherent pace of touring slowly eats them up and spits them out. On the 28th of December, 2015, the most shining exception to this rule left our world forever. Ian Fraser, known to the Rock-n-Roll universe as Lemmy Kilmister, was the pulse of the band Motörhead from the day he began it in the Summer of 1975 until the last note he played on December 11th, 2015, on a stage in Berlin.
