I use a TS100 USB-powered iron. It's fine for the relatively light soldering jobs I generally do.
By comparison, I live in a small town in rural south east England. I could choose from any one of at least 12 different ISPs, all of whom offer gigabit fibre. And we're relatively backward compared to mainland Europe.
Good grief. How depressing.
Never ceases to amaze me just how awful US ISPs are. Why do they get to behave like this? Are they local monopolies or something?

I've been using (and paying for) Bitwarden for a few years now. There are slicker solutions but it does the job for me and I don't really see any need to change.
I doubt we'll see ads in the form we know them from places like Twitter and Reddit. We may start seeing instances being sponsored by (or even operated by) businesses, and people can federate with them or not as they choose.
I also think paid subs will be a growth area and honestly this is the model I'd be most comfortable with, although I acknowledge the risk of excluding people who don't have disposable money to spend on such things.
It involves spending money, but I wonder whether a Synology NAS might suit you rather well? Synology Drive, Synology Photos et al make a pretty respectable replacement for the Googles.
