I thought I read elsewhere that a fair amount were trying Mastodon too. I take both as wins, given that they could have chosen Threads or Facebook.

It’s infuriating and disgraceful, but none of the orgs and their employees seem to feel any shame about it.

Agreed. Her comments were more nuanced than that. And I think what she said was correct. These policies might better come down to how they are framed if we want them to succeed.

Thanks for posting this. I’m a big MetaFilter fan, and that’s incredible to look back on and read. I was right across the East River when the attacks happened and out on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade when the second tower fell. I’ll never forget it….

Are these going to be MUCH cheaper than Freewrites? Or will their hackable nature be their main advantage over those?

Zerowriter needs to be exceedingly affordable if it hopes to become “the people’s Freewrite.” 😬

The story behind it is that he was finally shown how terrible his numbers really were in swing states. Apparently, they looked very bad and were trending even further down.

The story also goes that the reality of the situation had largely been hidden from him by his closest confidants up to that point. Add in all the party and public pressure, and it really doesn’t seem too far fetched that he was finally forced to face up to the bleak outlook of his chances going forward.
