Yeah I can understand that, but honestly if a psychiatrist can sign off on them being cognizant of themselves and not in an altered or unstable state, I don't see any reason why a patient shouldn't have experimental options like this.

I think the notion of someone who's dying being persuaded, by death, to be a lab rat is terrible and/or manipulative is kind of silly. Wanting to live longer is a pretty normal and rational desire by itself . Although an over concern with death can be unhealthy especially mentally, if you are actively dying that concern is pretty normal.

Wanting to live longer might not even be because of fear of death for a person, they could just want to spend more time with their family or something of that sort.

I feel as though, if you're deeply morally opposed to being a scientific lab rat, you'll choose to just go out naturally whether you are scared or not. There are people who turn away chemotherapy when they have cancer, Steve Jobs for example.

I personally would take any experimental medicine I could if I could, read their thesis paper, talk to the researchers about the plan and then decide whether I'm interested.

I don't see a reason why we can't keep trying this, it's bound to lead to some major breakthroughs and these people will die anyways, if they want to give it a try why stop it?

Forcing someone to run an onlyfans is fucking insane and should 100% be a lawsuit, that's disgusting.

There are people that I know that would run an onlyfans for a decent paycheck and not be bothered by it at all. It's actually pretty easy to find someone who would do that just go into any sex store and offer the cashier above minimum wage and there's a good chance they would take the job.

I've been watching LTT since I was 13, this past few weeks has completely changed my perspective on them in a very negative way and I'm extremely disappointed.

Thank god, this has been one of the most anti consumer things of our time and it needs to stop.

Don't know why your being downvoted, it's really easy to create a fake account with a proton mail or any throwaway email and just use that. Fucking do it while on VPN too if your really worried about data but I doubt OP is already on one.

I was about to downvote you then I realized you were op lol

Ah man so there's no way to make all my terminals look like that all the time?

[–] cybermass@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago (3 children)

How do you get the terminal font color gradient? Just got into custom Unix and I need this

Idk after 3 vaccines I'll hold off until there's an actual spike in cases instead of just a mild rise in cases. I got covid after my first 2 and it did suck a lot (worse than vaccines but better than it would've been without vaccines), but my 3rd vaccine hit me hard for like 2 days I felt like shit and honestly I just don't feel like I need to do that as of now, I feel like my memory B cells probably have stuck around considering how frequently I was exposed to the virus/proteins.

Personal choice, anyone who wants to get vaccinated I completely encourage it, I would just rather not get another one at this time, I don't get a flu shot every year for pretty much the same reason and considering the r⁰ value of covid I doubt any amount of vaccination efforts/campaigns will ever eradicate it, especially with all the anti vaxx nutjobs out there.

To be honest I love the idea of the government handling space exploration but (saying this as someone who works directly for a government body) the government is just too slow and ineffective to get space exploration online in the timeframe needed for it to generate new technologies that would help the climate crisis.

It's mostly because of funding and ineffective bureaucracy not lack of talent or capable workers, but it's a problem nonetheless.

In a better world...
