In a functioning anything, any judge, lawyer, clerk, whatever shouldn't have any political affiliation and their religious beliefs wouldn't influence their law decisions.

Everyone is entitled to express their thoughts and opinions on any subject, regardless of their knowledge on that subject. The problem is that celebrities and athletes opinions carry more weight because they're famous and make a lot of money. And carry even more weight if their opinion aligns with yours.
